STANWAY Rovers have completed the “biggest signing” in their history - by swooping for Colchester United legend Karl Duguid.
And the 36-year-old, who has signed a contract for the rest of the season, goes straight into their squad for Saturday’s huge FA Vase showdown at Hertford Town.
Duguid, one of Colchester’s top-ten appearance-makers of all time, retired from playing at the end of last season and recently quit his role as youth-team coach.
He hinted at the time he was considering pulling on his boots again - and now he has put pen to paper at ambitious Thurlow Nunn League high-fliers Stanway.
Boss Angelo Harrop, a long-time friend of Duguid’s from his own days as a U’s youth-teamer, said: “It’s absolutely huge for us and the biggest signing in Stanway’s history.”
