TWO properties in Colchester are set to go under the hammer next month, including a promising shop building and a large home in the city.

Clive Emson’s next online auction will take place on May 1 at 11am and will include a city centre shop and a large home in Blackheath.

North Hill

The first property is a vacant, commercial premises in North Hill, with the bidding starting at £170,000.

Gazette:

Parts of the property are believed to date back to 1510 and feature a ground floor sales area, a basement and an upper part, which used to be an accommodation.

Gazette:

The upper part could be reinstated as a flat, and potentially could be transformed into an Airbnb, if planning permission is granted.

Blackheath

The second property is a large home, Blackheath Lodge.

With bidding starting at £275,000, the home offers four bedrooms and more than three bathrooms arranged over two levels.

Gazette:

An annexe to the side features the kitchen, leading to a split-level living room with patio doors to the garden.

The outside offers a block paved parking area in front of the home and a garden to the side and rear, with a ground-floor storage unit in the lower part of the annexe building.

Gazette:

In total, the site measures approximately 0.07 hectares, but it is in need of modernisation and improvement throughout.

Improvements would include fixing the damaged roof in the storage room on the annexe’s ground floor.
