AN award-winning musical comedy which is improvised on the spot will be gracing a stage at a Colchester venue next month.

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical is coming to the Mercury Theatre, in Balkerne Gate, Colchester, on October 11.

The play is famous for being a completely improvised experience and it was created in 2008 by playwrights Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery.

The cast use their acting skills to put on a fully realised musical, one that is created on the spot from audience suggestions.

Suggestions can range from absurd settings and different musical styles to even naming the show taking place.

Gazette:

As a result of the show’s spontaneous nature, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical has enjoyed stints on the West End and is the winner of two Olivier Awards, and two MTM nominations.

A spokesman for the critically acclaimed musical said: “[It’s] spontaneous musical comedy at its finest, it is the first ever long-form improv show to have a full West End run and to be nominated and win an Olivier Award.

"Completely improvised and genuinely entirely different every night, this is a must-see show."

Ticket prices range from £15 to £25 and doors open at 7.30pm.
