These are just a few of the 1,000-plus photographs submitted to Colchester’s Firstsite art gallery’s summer photography competition to capture what our county is all about.
The contest coincided with an exhibition of work by acclaimed photographer Martin Parr.
The Firstsite team selected ten local photographers to be the competition’s champions.
Each week, a different champion selected their favourite image from that week’s entries which was then displayed in the gallery.
On Thursday, the gallery will have an extended opening from 6pm when visitors will be able to catch a final glimpse of Martin Parr’s Work and Leisure display and find out who are the finalists and eventual winner of the competition.
At 7pm Martin will be in conversation with Richard West, co-editor of Source Photographic Review, following which the gallery will be announcing the winner. Entry is £5 (concessions £3) available in advance by calling 01206 577067.
