A VIOLENT man has been jailed for 12 years after a jury ruled his attack on a father was GBH.

Glenn Freeman, 26, of Kings Georges Road, Maldon, was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court today after being convicted of the attack on Darren De Vries outside the Warwick Arms in the town last December 5.

The court heard the two had been involved in an altercation in the pub before a confrontation in the car park outside, where Freeman stabbed Mr de Vries in the neck or shoulder.

Passing sentence, Judge David Turner QC, said: “This sort of violence in public houses is what strikes terror in the minds of people who go there.

“There is the fear that it could be any of us that are on the receiving end."

He added: "Even if he had overreacted, your loss of control and anger lead to this outcome.

“You are very possibly a dangerous man.

“This was a grave crime committed by someone who knew exactly what the score was.”
