BRIT-ROCKERS Kasabian and Scottish superstar Calvin Harris will headline this year’s V Festival in Chelmsford.

This summer’s event will mark the festival’s 20th anniversary, and organisers have put together a huge home-grown line up.

Joining the pair in August will also be recent four-time Grammy and 2015 Brit winner Sam Smith Ellie Goulding, The Script, The Courteeners, George Ezra, Tom Jones and the Stereophonics.

Essex-boy Olly Murs is also set to play the event at Hylands Park on the weekend of August 22 and 23.

Kasabian are one of the biggest bands in the UK, and this summer’s V performance comes hot on the heels of their critically-acclaimed headline slot at Glastonbury last year.

Their latest album 48:13 went straight in at number one in the album charts last summer, and the Leicester lads can’t wait to hit the stage at Hylands later this year.

Guitarist Sergio Pizzorno said: “V is for victory, V is for voodoo, V is for vacuum cloud, V is for very, very, very, very excited. See you in the fields!”

The unexpected rise of DJ, producer and songwriter Calvin Harris has surprised many, despite the 31-year-old having a string of hits including Ready for the Weekend and collaborations with the likes of Rihanna.

The Scot said: “V Festival is always an incredible time and I can't wait to headline it this year. See you there!”

Paloma Faith, James Bay, Chvrches, and The Kooks are also set to make an appearance.

Festival director, Simon Moran said: “It’s incredible to think what V has achieved in two decades. When we started out in ‘96, we were two stages and one tent, with the northern site only hosting one day of acts. Since then we’ve hosted some of the most iconic acts from around the world. Here’s to another decade!”

Tickets for this year’s event go on sale at 9am on Friday, March 6. For more details, visit www.vfestival.com.
