A school is celebrating after driving up standards to be rated “good”.

Gosbecks Primary School, in Owen Ward Close, Shrub End, was praised by Ofsted this month for improving its teaching.

When it was last inspected, in 2012, the school was told it needed to improve.

In the latest report, inspectors praised headteacher Jayne Mitchell for making significant changes which have helped raise achievement for all pupils.

Reading, writing and maths, have all improved, while rigorous checks on the quality of teaching has driven up standards.

Mrs Mitchell said: "This is a fantastic result for everyone involved at the school.

"It is the result of a lot of hard work to improve the progress and attainment of every child at the school and I’m so pleased this has been recognised by the inspectors."
